Energy Minister Keo Rattanak and Toyota Cambodia CEO Kensuke Tsuchiya review clean energy mobility trends to align corporate strategy with national sustainable development targets

Phnom Penh: Accelerating the transition toward clean mobility and reducing carbon emissions in the transport sector remain pivotal objectives for the Royal Government of Cambodia as it advances its green economy agenda. Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rattanak held a consultative meeting with Mr. Kensuke Tsuchiya, Chief Executive Officer of Toyota Cambodia, to evaluate strategic opportunities for green vehicle deployment nationwide.

During the dialogue, both parties exchanged comprehensive updates regarding the current production, assembly, and domestic market utilization of Toyota vehicles in Cambodia. Discussions focused primarily on future market development strategies, with particular emphasis on promoting hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and battery electric vehicles (EVs) to align with global clean energy transitions and environmental sustainability standards.

The strategic dialogue between energy officials and global automotive leaders like Toyota highlights Cambodia’s commitment to building a supportive framework for low-emission transport. Expanding hybrid and EV adoption across the country is designed to decrease reliance on imported fossil fuels, lower urban carbon footprints, and reinforce the implementation goals outlined in the national electric vehicle development framework.

The consultative meeting between the Ministry of Mines and Energy and Toyota Cambodia marks a key milestone in positioning green mobility at the core of national energy planning.
