Cambodia Evaluates Environmental Impact of Planned Lubricant Factory in Kandal

Cosmic Oil Cambodia Co., Ltd. has proposed the development of a brand-new lubricant oil production factory spanning more than four hectares of land in Kandal Province. The industrial initiative progressed further following a formal assessment update shared via the Ministry of Environment on May 26, 2026.

To thoroughly evaluate the potential footprint of the project, HE Tea Chub, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment, chaired an inter-ministerial review meeting. The session convened key stakeholders, including representatives from relevant ministries and institutions, specialized directorates under the Ministry of Environment, and technical officers from the Department of Environmental Impact Assessment.

The primary purpose of the gathering was to examine and provide strategic feedback on the project’s full Environmental Impact Assessment report. Through this rigorous evaluation, the inter-ministerial body aims to ensure that the project owners strictly adhere to environmental protection standards, prioritizing corporate responsibility and mitigating any ecological impacts while supporting the development of local infrastructure.
