Cambodian Transport Delegation Meets AIIB Officials in Beijing to Strengthen Infrastructure Funding and Project Delivery

Beijing: Strengthening strategic partnerships with international financial institutions remains a vital component of Cambodia’s broader efforts to expand its infrastructure network and foster sustainable economic development. On the morning of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, during an official mission to the People’s Republic of China for the Global Sustainable Transport Forum 2026, Minister of Public Works and Transport Peng Ponea led a Cambodian delegation in a high-level bilateral meeting with Kim-See Lim, Director General of Investment Operations at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

The bilateral session focused on three core operational objectives. First, both sides reviewed the implementation progress of active infrastructure initiatives currently financed under AIIB credit frameworks. Second, delegates evaluated the priority project pipeline submitted by the Cambodian Ministry for future bank financing. Third, the meeting provided a platform to discuss strategic directions for long-term bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and AIIB.

Following the discussions, both delegations expressed strong appreciation for their productive partnership and past joint achievements. Representatives from both the Cambodian ministry and AIIB committed to deepening institutional coordination to ensure high operational efficiency and the timely execution of key infrastructure developments according to established targets.

The meeting between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in Beijing underscores Cambodia’s proactive engagement in securing development capital. By strengthening cooperation with AIIB, Cambodia enhances its capacity to modernize national transport networks, reduce logistics bottlenecks, and support resilient long-term economic growth.
