MoE Halts Certification and Handover of Community Forest Land

Ministry of Environment (MoE) issues a directive to immediately halt all processes related to the certification, recognition, or transfer of community forest land or land earmarked for clearing. The directive, outlined in letter No. 1839/0424 B.E. dated April 10, 2024, underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring meticulous oversight and effective management of forest resources.

In this correspondence, HE Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, emphasized the importance of proper procedures in confirming land titles or maps and transferring them to institutions, organizations, or clients.

He highlighted that such actions must be authorized by the head of the institution to maintain order and effective management in the environmental sector, preventing any misuse or negative implications.

Unauthorized certification or transfer of documents has led to confusion and may have adverse effects on environmental management. Therefore, it is essential to adhere to the established protocols to ensure clarity and accountability in these processes.
