Progress on National Road No. 10 & Tallest Bridge

As of 20 January 2025, significant advancements have been made on National Road No. 10, now 96% complete, alongside the tallest bridge in the project, which has reached 93% completion. This bridge, measuring 530 metres in height, is scheduled to open for trial use by the end of March 2025.

According to HE Phorn Rim, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the construction of National Road No. 10 spans a total length of 198,518 kilometres. The road’s development has seen the following progress: from pk0 (Samlot) to pk60; the road features double bituminous surface treatment (DBST) rubber. Between pk60 and pk85, a red gravel foundation is currently being reinforced with a double layer of rubber spraying, while from pk85 to pk112 (Osom), DBST rubber has been laid down.

From pk112 to pk175, spraying of DBST rubber is ongoing, with a note that the stretch from pk122 to pk129 utilizes an old red gravel road beneath the bridge. Lastly, from pk175 to pk198 (Koh Kong), completion is also ongoing with DBST rubber paving.

While traffic on National Road No. 10 is currently flowing smoothly, HE Phorn Rim advises drivers to exercise caution, particularly in sections still covered with red gravel, which can obscure visibility.

It is important to note that National Road No. 10 is classified as a Grade III double-paved road and has been constructed with funding from the Chinese government, totalling over USD 188 million. The road, with a width of 9 meters, is expected to enhance connectivity and development in the region upon completion significantly.
