South Korean Ambassador Pledges to Attract Major Strategic Investments to Cambodia

Strategic partnership and Korean technical expertise expected to drive high-value economic growth and technological modernization

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia, His Excellency Kim Chang Yong, has officially pledged to promote large-scale investment projects to the Kingdom, aiming for significant shared economic achievements. This commitment was made during a high-level meeting with His Excellency Sun Chanthol, First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), on March 12, 2026.

During the discussion, HE Sun Chanthol expressed deep satisfaction with the elevation of bilateral ties to a “Strategic Partnership” in 2024. He emphasized that while Cambodia and South Korea already collaborate across numerous sectors, there remains vast untapped potential for further cooperation within both bilateral and regional frameworks. Korea’s advanced expertise in technology and international trade is seen as a vital asset for Cambodia’s ongoing development and industrial modernization.

As part of their commitment to fostering a more favorable investment environment, both parties agreed to prepare for the 3rd Cambodia-Korea Government-Private Sector Dialogue. This platform is expected to address key challenges and opportunities for Korean businesses, further solidifying the economic architecture between the two nations and ensuring sustained growth in high-value industries.
