Two Cambodia’s Ecotourism Communities Receive ASEAN Standard Award 2023

Two ecotourism communities in Cambodia, Samros Koh Han ecotourism community in Stung Treng province and the Prey Thom Anlong Thom ecotourism community in Siem Reap province, have received the ASEAN Ecotourism Standard Award.

The award-giving ceremony was held at the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023 in Yukata, Indonesia on 5 February, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

Koh Han Ecotourism Community is located in Koh Sneng Commune, Thala Parivat District, which is over 30km from Stung Treng Town, and was established in 2016.  Tourists can camp, canoe, do sunbathing in the river, ride bicycles, and enjoy the natural scenery during the forest trekking.

Prey Thom Anlong Thom Protected Area Community is located on the ridge of Kulen Mountain in Anlong Thom Village, Khnong Phnom Commune, Svay Leu District, covering 365ha of land.

The award is to boost the development of community human resources, local infrastructure, new tourism product development, existing tourism product improvement, as well as the popularity of tourists.

HE Thong Rathsak, Director General of Tourism Development and International Cooperation said that winning the award confirms that tourist products and destinations in Cambodia are convenient, warm, safe, clean, and green.

The ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023 has awarded 158 awards, Cambodia has won 17 awards including 5 ASEAN Standard Accommodation Awards, 3 ASEAN Standard Tourism Community Awards, 5 ASEAN Standard Public Toilets, and 4 ASEAN Standard Spa Services.
